intangible untouched
my hands stretched into the earth / trying to refind something sure / a
golden necklace or a gentle breeze / or the roots of a tall birch tree, /
but the soil lies fallow / and the depths are all shallow, / so i take
myself and start to travel, / bringing away nothing / but a festering
vitality that burns / bubbles and boils, over- / flowing, drowning,
draining -- / the fingertips that traced / snowflakes, warm, glowing /
eyes, mine, that filled with surprise / when i saw you sublime / into that
bright night / robbed of light -- / so i ran fast from there / trying to
outchase my scare.
